Messiah 2013

More Info

Our performance of Handel's masterpiece Messiah was in the intimate setting of St. John's Church in Wakefield, and was a worthy climax to Consort's thirtieth year celebrations.

We were supported on this special occasion by an excellent group of musicians in The Cathedral Strings - leader Nicholas Meredith - plus soloists Rhiannon Beck (soprano), Lucy Appleyard (alto), Tom Morss (tenor) and Chris McKeon (bass).

Our rendition, with only twenty singers, a small orchestra and soloists, was an authentic version using the smaller forces Handel wrote the work for, and used in its first performance in Dublin in April 1742.
